A warrior of the Sand people, known in Graycastle as Iron Axe and in the south as Kabago. Tall, severe, and taciturn, he is shaped by strength, loyalty, and personal honor. In the past he belonged to the Osha Clan and knew Echo before she ever came to live among witches. His reserve and constant caution make him difficult to approach at first, yet beneath that hard exterior lie dependability, honesty, and a deep sense of duty.

His connection with Roland begins through his knowledge of demonic beasts and hybrids. Iron Axe had personally killed a demonic beast and fought a hybrid, which made his experience of the southern lands, the Sand people, and the dangers coming from the wastelands immediately valuable. Combat skill, endurance, and an ability to keep others disciplined gradually make him one of the most useful military men in Roland’s circle.
